Ignacio Mattos, award-winning restauranteur, recently published a cookbook named for his Nolita eatery Estela shot entirely by Marcus Nilsson. The images within showcase Marcus at his best - beautiful, authentic portraits, and mouthwatering, edgy food. The recipes are delicious and unique (with restaurant favorites such as Cured Fluke with Sea Urchin and Yuzu Kosho, Veal Sweetbreads with Onion, and Parsnip Gelato with Caramel) as is the story behind them - that of a troublemaking teen from Uruguay who found himself through cooking and never lost his vision.

He captured the energy of the bustling city and its restaurants so successfully that you feel like you're really there - fighting your way through Lin Heung Tea House, drinking tea at 3AM in Sun Hing, or learning how to fold the perfect har gow by renowned chef Chan Chun-hung. The closet, which was once a spare bedroom, is exactly what you'd expect from Martha Stewart- everything is in its specifically chosen place, while still looking effortlessly stylish. Marcus captured her essence perfectly through portraiture and stills of the space, with a soft natural light and eye for detail that even Martha would be impressed by.

Food + Wine called on Marcus Nilsson to photograph the colorful aisles of beloved Korean supermarket chain H Mart in Yonkers, NY for a recent feature. Deuki Hong, San Francisco chef and collaborator on H-Mart's new food court, joined the party to share some of his favorite recipes and Korean ingredient picks. The market's bright packaging and trendy vibe was a perfect match with Marcus’ punchy style.

He captures the exact feeling at the end of the evening with his unique lighting- the wine has been flowing, the cheese plate has been devoured, each guest has shared the best story they have and the host can relax after a job well done.
Travel + Leisure (and apparently half of Hollywood's indie actresses) have deemed upstate New York as the place to be for a fall get-away. Marcus Nilsson set out on a beautiful autumn weekend to photograph exactly what all the fuss is about- capturing the food, interiors, lifestyle, and portraits of the people who make the Hudson Valley so special.

Marcus Nilsson travelled across the globe, between LA and Thailand, to shoot for the much-anticipated NIGHT + MARKET cookbook! NIGHT + MARKET is a popular Los Angeles restaurant, frequented by celebrities like Gwenyth Paltrow, Lena Dunham, Questlove, and Daft Punk, that specializes in delicious and authentic Thai street food. Run by the 33-year-old Kris Yenbamroong, the unofficial mission statement of the restaurant (and partial book title) is "We aim to make the most delicious and authentic Thai food to facilitate drinking and fun-having amongst friends." Marcus' fun and unique imagery, mixing bright colors with contrast lighting and the perfect balance of food, still life and portraiture, brings that statement to life in this spectacular cookbook. Marcus Nilsson recently shot an ad campaign for KFC's return of the iconic item, The Double Down. The Double Down replaces the usual bun with two pieces of original recipe chicken, and Marcus' photography showcases it in its most delicious light!

Marcus Nilsson shoots a plethora of potatoes for Real Simple Magazine's November 2016 Edition! The Thanksgiving feature shoot took place at the Time Inc. Studio in New York City. Marcus got up close and personal with eight different potato recipes, from garlic mashed to crème fraîche smashed. We are just about ready to dig into these sweet and savory recipes!

Saying our final goodbyes to sunny skies, poolside slushies, and shorts with this series of Instagram shots taken by Marcus Nilsson who traveled from coast to coast this summer on his Harley! Marcus covered 3,746 miles and 14 states in just 13 days. During his excursion, he saw the grandiose landscapes of the Grand Canyon, rode America's dream drive a.k.a. the Pacific Coast Highway, and lived it up in Los Angeles with good grub and gorgeous views. With his iPhone in one hand and the other on the handlebar, Marcus managed to snap a few fun photos from his East Coast to West Coast journey.
